I started my career as vintage laboratory assistant at Renmano Wines in 1998, this sparked my interest in winemaking.
An opportunity arose to do a vintage in the south of France at La Baume, which cemented my desire to become a winemaker. This was followed up with a return visit the next vintage.
While studying my winemaking degree at Charles Sturt University, I spent some of my early career in the Limestone Coast.
I returned to the Riverland in 2005 as the white winemaker for Salena Estate Wines.
At Salena I decided to make a wine my way, all fruit, no fining and utilised a variety that was only ever used as a blender, this leap of faith showed dividends when I took out 4 trophies including Best Wine in Show at the Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show with the Ink Series Bianco d’Alessano.
I have judged at the Riverland wine show in both an associate and Judging capacity, and have been involved in many tastings in Australia and overseas.
I am now the Commercial manager for CCW Co-operative limited which entails involvement from vineyards through to sales and marketing.
I have always had a passion for winemaking, its versatility of styles and the different abilities of my colleagues to interpret what the fruit can offer.
