Luke’s wine journey kicked off at Dunkeld’s iconic Royal Mail Hotel. After returning to his hometown to recover from a rock climbing accident in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains, he coincidentally took a job at the local landmark and fell in love with wine. He later moved to the Adelaide Hills to join the team at another highly regarded wine venue, the Crafers Hotel. As eventual custodian of the wine program, Luke condensed and rewrote the list, leaving behind a selection that won Australia’s Best Pub Restaurant Wine List the following year. After moving on to a stint in private consultancy and events, Luke relocated to Wrattonbully with his wife to start a family and realise a dream of planting a small, high-density Sangiovese vineyard on classic limestone soils.
