The Limestone Coast Grape and Wine Council is dedicated to delivering and supporting technical initiatives and ensuring for vineyard health and biosecurity across the region. A number of these initiatives are funded through Wine Australia’s Regional Program, since the Limestone Coast Grape and Wine Council is that organisation’s partner in the South East of South Australia.
This work is coordinated through a dedicated subcommittee, which meets regularly and coordinates a number of events.
We work closely with AWRI and follow all of the latest developments in Sustainable Winegrowing Australia.
We have a number of major partners, and we are always working with new partners where collaborations can arise.
We have a number of other initiatives and investigations that are ongoing in this space, some of which concern spray drift, fracking, strip mining, climate change, and GMO, along with work on drought readiness and water scarcity management (which crosses over with the work of the Water Subcommittee).
Our flagship events for 2025/2026 include:
- Naracoorte High School Vineyard Demonstration Site (see media release here);
- Eucalyptus [1-8 Cineole] Removal in Wine-Resin Evaluations;
- Best Practice Soil Assessment and Recovery Post – Mothballing
- ESG Information Session with Maggie Jarrett
- Mesonet and Smoke Taint Monitors: pathways to adoption
