Earlier this year, the Limestone Coast Grape and Wine Council commissioned Dr Jonathan Staggs (University of Queensland) – an expert on institutions, regions, and entrepreneurship – to produce a report to quantify the wine industry’s broad benefits for the Limestone Coast community. This work is now done, and we have invited him to share his findings at a public lecture with Q&A in Mount Gambier, where we will also officially launch the report on Tuesday 28 October (11:30am – 12:45pm ACDT) at the Wulanda Recreation & Convention Centre.
This report, ‘A Region of Value: Strengthening the Grape and Wine Future of the Limestone Coast’, provides clear advocacy and novel recommendations to strengthen the industry’s profile and future development, emphasising the need to build entrepreneurial capabilities that challenge the status quo and capitalise on emerging consumer trends. To support this, a series of economic scenarios are presented to spark discussion on how the Limestone Coast can develop future-focused capabilities.
This presentation will cover much more than the wine industry. It will contain insights into tourism, the experience economy, region-based policy, and a number of local industries. Tickets are free, but there are limited spots available. We have allocated space in three tranches: for people who work within or alongside the media (which is your category); for people who work within the wine industry (whether for a winery business, vineyard operation, Wine Australia, AWRI, or within a local/regional/state association body for the wine industry); and for people who may work for state or national government departments, statutory authorities and other bodies, in the tourism sector, in local political or executive roles, and in all other industry bodies.
This report will be available to download on this website on Tuesday 28 October.
