Soil Stewardship Program

2013-14 LIMESTONE COAST GRAPE AND WINE COUNCIL GWRDC SOIL STEWARDSHIP PROGRAM

The Limestone Coast Grape and Wine Council Technical Sub Committee is the peak research body for the Limestone Coast Zone. The main endeavour of this group is to facilitate the growth of technical knowledge in winemaking and viticulture. Through the generous support of GWRDC Regional Program, a soil stewardship program is available to four passionate individuals in the Limestone Coast grape and wine community.

The program will support the successful candidates to travel to Adelaide, Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek and Western Australian wine regions to experience innovative soil management practices with the potential to benefit the Limestone Coast. Successful candidates will also participate in leadership activities led by Russell Fisher, a professional facilitator with ‘Sustainability in Mind’, to build the capacity and expertise of the group which will assist with the adoption of the learnings in the Limestone Coast.

Applications were sought from people who are passionate about the sustainability of the Limestone Coast and who bring a diversity of skills and experiences. Individuals with vision and expertise in vineyard operations, technical viticulture, research, sustainability and the Limestone Coast are encouraged to apply.
